Activities

The maritime area of Paros is widely considered a surfer’s paradise. The wind speed and direction on the southeast side of the island, in combination with the sea waves, create a world-renowned surfing area.

For surfers, windsurfers, or kitesurfers, the beaches of Santa Maria and Pounta, known for their strong and prevailing winds, are recommended. Also, you can discover the island by horse! There are two riding centers, one by the sea, in Ambelás, and one in Ystérni.

If you love biking, pedal along the coast, following the sandy beaches or take a detour inland-a great way to see for yourself some of the island’s most beautiful places. Get to Kalóyeros Beach to treat yourself to a free spa day. The red and green clay rocks offer a really effective natural spa!

Beaches

Paros holds a veritable treasure chest of beauty. There are many beaches, and each area of the island offers great surprises. Close to Parikia is the town’s beach, Livadia Beach. It is the easiest to reach and by itself is a fantastic calling card for all of Paros. It is sandy, shallow and crystal clear in color. Among the most characteristic and perfect for a full day of sun and relaxation is Santa Maria and Phillenghi Bay, just 5km from the small square of Naoussa. On the east coast, opposite Naxos, there are incredible beaches. A must for starters is undoubtedly Tsoukalia, an unequipped, sandy, wild beach.

On the other hand, If you are looking for a beach ideal for families we recommend Marmara – Molos. By reaching the beaches of Trypiti and Drios, you will get away from the villages and can fully immerse yourself in nature. You will admire small coves but really authentic and lonely beaches, even in high season. If you are looking for adventure and want a perfect beach for kitesurfing, one cannot fail to mention the beaches in the immediate vicinity of Pounta, the marina where you embark for Antiparos, south of the island.

Boat excursions

in collaboration

Some of the most unique activities to do during the day definitely include boat trips around the island and to the nearest islands:

  • Explore Paros, Antiparos and Despotiko by sea on a speedboat trip from Paros. Visit secluded places and enjoy turquoise waters and coastal vistas.
  • Explore Delos and Mykonos: visit the rocky, uninhabited island of Delos. Despite its small size, Delos was considered one of the most sacred islands in ancient Greek culture. Restaurants

The villages in Paros are full of restaurants where you can eat typical Greek delicacies. If you want to be surrounded by a homey atmosphere and enjoy typical local dishes, you must stop at Katsounas Fish Tavern. Here, Mrs. Maria has transformed the courtyard of her old courtyard into a tavern. It is one of the most famous and authentic in Paros, behind Little St. Mary’s Beach. If you want to eat the best fish soup you must go to Taverna Christana, on the shore 200 meters from Ampela harbor. During dinner you can admire the lights of Naxos in the distance and be served by one of the island’s best-loved families. Next to a narrow beach of fine pebbles you can find Kyma Taverna. Thanks to their professionalism and crazy view of the sea, they have become among the most popular taverns in the area.

In one of the most picturesque villages on Paros, Marpissa, is probably the most beautiful taverna on the island: the Charoula Taverna. The restaurant expands under two mulberry trees that provide shade and a delicate scent in summer. The ambiance is reminiscent of an ancient theater scene, enhanced by a folkloric mural in the center. In addition to the cozy location you can enjoy local dishes and typical osteria recipes. If you’re looking for an upscale place, Sigi Ihthios, in Naoussa, will seduce you with its dishes of the freshest seafood. As a last place to mark: The Balcony, an elegant restaurant offering freshly caught fish, as well as a very good and traditional Moussaka.

Drink bar

The Come back bay in Naoussa will give you one of the most beautiful sunsets of your holiday, to be enjoyed of course along with a good drink.
Don’t miss the Kafeneio. It offers an excellent frappedaki and a timeless fresh lemonade perfect for torrid days. Excellent, also the desserts for a tasty snack. Take a tour inside: you’ll notice vintage photos everywhere and savor a full cycladic atmosphere.

Another must-visit bar is the Apollon Garden. The food is great and the location is beautiful: a garden among the vine leaves. The price is slightly above average, but absolutely adequate for the service.
